Records show that Daniel Gronow first became minister for "a dissenting congregation" at Great Hucklow in
the Derbyshire Peak District some time after 1774.
In 1788, Jedediah Strutt had a unitarian chapel built in Belper next to what was the meeting house founded in 1689. By then, Daniel Gronow had already become a Presbyterian minister at Alfreton, Derbyshire (1782) where he and his family now resided. Records show that at least three of Daniel's four children were baptised at Jedeiah's new unitarian chapel.

Following John Tunaley's death in 1863, Sarah Wood (nee Gronow) moved to Manchester with her son Joseph close to her widowed daughter Sarah Tunaley (nee wood).
From: The Leeds Mercury, 14th October, 1867:
Marriages
"Wood - Stead, October 10th at
Woodside Church, by the Rev.
Mr.Hoare,
Mr. Joseph Wood, timber merchant,
Manchester, to Fanny Eliza, only
daughter of Jeremiah Stead Esq.
of Outwood House, Horsforth".
Jeremiah Stead was the brother
of Walter Stead, a wealthy wool
manufacturer of Leeds. The
brothers Stead were at one time
part of the firm Steads and
French.
Records kindly provided by
Dr. Jane Holmes confirm that
Joseph Wood, timber merchant,
of Manchester as given in the
1871 Manchester Guardian notice
(centre panel) and Joseph Wood
who married Fanny Eliza Stead
1867, were one and the same
person.
Moreover, they show that in 1881
Joseph Wood employed 25 men and
boys as a timber merchant and
saw-mill proprietor in
Manchester.
This raises the possibility that
John and Sarah Tunaley's three
sons, Mathhew Henry, John Charles
and Thomas Gronow, variously
described as joiner ,carpenter,
timber merchant, were
initially trained/employed by
Joesph Wood.

About Sarah Gronow and the Gronow connection to Jedediah Strutt
Sarah was the daughter of Daniel Gronow Snr., Daniel born circa 1740.
Daniel Snr. married Sarah Thomason of Manchester on 11th October 1785.
Records show Daniel's place of residence at the time of marriage was Offerton, North Derbyshire, not far from Manchester.
Daniel Snr. and wife Sarah (nee Thomason) had 4 children:
Joseph Gronow b. 1786, baptised 11th September 1786 at Jedediah Strutt's Unitarian Chapel, Belper.
Daniel Gronow Jnr. b. 1788. See headstone, panel left.
Elizabeth Gronow b. 1789, baptised 2nd May 1789 at Jedediah Strutt's Unitarian Chapel, Belper. No further records.
Sarah Gronow b. 1792, baptised 8th February 1793 at Jedediah Strutt's Unitarian Chapel, Belper.
Derbyshire records also show that Daniel Gronow Snr. became minister for "a dissenting congregation" at Great Hucklow in
the Derbyshire Peak District some time after 1774.
In 1788, Jedediah Strutt, the mill owner, had a unitarian chapel built in Belper next to what was the meeting
house founded in 1721 (various members of the Strutt family are buried there). The minister appointed to take charge at the time of the erection was Daniel Gronow Snr. who,
according to one record,
"divided his labours between this and three other places".
Daniel Gronow Snr. had by then become a Presbyterian minister at Alfreton, Derbyshire (1787) where he and his family now resided. Presbyterians at the time fell into two groups, Unitarians and independents, Daniel Gronow being of the former persuasion and allowing him to minister also at Jedediah Sturtt's chapel from time to time. He died 1796. For further details click here.
The small hamlet of Offerton, where Daniel Snr. lived at the time of marriage is now part of Hathersage and not far from Manchester which, having been a market town, was now
rapidly expanding at the start of the industrial revolution.
Daniel Snr.'s marriage to Sarah Thomason appears in Cheshire records but it may well be that the actual place of marriage is now part of Greater Manchester. # Update: Records now show the marriage was under licence to the Bishop of Chester with the wedding taking place at the Church of St Mary, St. Denys and St. George (now Manchester Cathedral).
Daniel Gronow Jnr. died 1821 in Cawnpore India aged 32 years.
Sarah Gronow, b. 1791, married Matthew Wood, a lace manufacturer, on 20th April 1815 at St. Lawrence Church, Heanor, Derbyshire,
Their daughter Sarah Wood was born 1822 and married John Tunaley on 20th December 1847, Duffield, Derbyshire.
Sarah Tunaley died June 10th. 1880, aged 58 yeasrs. Sarah buried Uttoxeter New Road Cemetery, Derby.
